CULTURAL - Marbella International Jazz Festival
A cultural event you cannot miss....
The International Jazz Festival of Marbella, born only five years ago, has become an international reference for jazz lovers. Furthermore, it represents an important cultural event of Marbella. During the Festival days, Marbella turns into a great stage where different groups coming from all over the world perform their own musical styles, adding a special and colourful touch to the life of the city.
Some of the greatest jazz artists such as Dianne Shurr, Larry Coryell or Arturo Sandoval, have contributed with their presence to increase the relevance of this Festival, offering each year brilliant moments not only at the main concerts which take place at the Auditorium of the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos, but also on the different outdoor events taking place in several representative areas of the city and neighbouring villages.
The Jazz Festival in Marbella stands out for its different proposals that take advantage of the magnificent climate and environment offered by the area. Such is the case of the “Jazz on Board”, one of the activities preferred by the audience, where people can enjoy excellent music, while sailing along the coast of Marbella on board of a magnificent sailing ship.
But the festival also takes place on the street, with numerous free concerts in different well-known corners of Marbella, such as the beachside promenade, Marbella’s port, the park or the beach, where people congregate to listen and watch the performances of several bands from all over the world, playing their tunes, different times of the day.
Murajazz is the name given to the group of concerts offered with the wall of the Castle as backdrop to this excellent stage. These concerts are always one the greatest shows offered, in the very heart of the old town.
This year the festival will take place in September, so it will add enjoyment to all activities in the open air, and also will give more chances for people to match their holidays or stay, with this special event that is already an important aspect of the cultural agenda of Marbella.
